Dogs are individuals and their food requirements may vary depending on age, breed, size, activity and environment. Use the feeding suggestions as a guide for best determining the appropriate amount of food. Observe your dog's weight and regulate the amount of food accordingly. If ever in doubt, consult your veterinarian.

Your dog's life stages: PetGuard Lifespan formula is complete and balanced for dogs in all life stages. The formula contains the required level of protein, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients needed by growing puppies, adult dogs and reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation.

Puppies: Petguard Lifespan may be fed dry or moistened. Puppies begin to eat small bites of solid food at three to four weeks of age. Keep a bowl of moistened food for your puppies to eat whenever they want until weaning takes place. Weaning occurs generally at six to eight weeks of age. After weaning, keep bowl filled with dry food at all times or schedule feedings of moistened food three times a day until your puppies are seven months old. Then reduce your scheduled feedings to two times a day until your puppies are a year old.

Adults: Depending on breed, dogs mature to adulthood between seven and ten months. The quality of food your adult dog will eat to maintain optimum body condition will vary based on age, activity, breed, size and environment. Be your pet's best friend and do not allow your dog to become overweight. Overfeeding may cause loose stools along with other problems.

Pregnant and nursing dogs: Food consumption will vary during gestation and lactation. Food intake increases two to three times. For that reason, we recommend free choice method of feeding. Allow your pet access to PetGuard LifeSpan at all times.

Switching to PetGuard: When introducing your pet to a new food, mix the new food with the current food with decreasing amounts of the previous food over a seven to ten day period. This helps avoid digestive problems that can be caused by abruptly changing your pet's diet.

Remember the water! Be sure your dog always has plenty of fresh, clean drinking water. An adequate water intake is as imperative to your pet as it is to you in achieving good health. Supply fresh, clean water regularly.

Your pet's veterinarian: Periodic visits and annual checkups are an important part of your pet's preventive health care program. Your veterinarian should be your pet's next best friend.
